Suzy Kolber was born Suzanne Lisa Kolber on May 14th, 1964, in Philadelphia Pennsylvania to a Jewish family. Suzy Kolber, who is now at 58. Sandra Kolber was her mother as was Gene Kolber was her father. Kolber is a graduate of Upper Dublin High School in Pennsylvania, and Sandy Run Middle School. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in telecommunications in 1986 from the University of Miami. In her undergraduate years, she landed the job as a sports director at Dynamic within Coral Gables Florida. Aside from that she was employed by the company for two years between 1984 and 1986. Also, she was part of the University of Miami water skiing team in this period. Plaza was active in Wilmington community theatre as a child, where she was a part of improv groups, staged one-act plays, and was involved in various other events. When she moved to New York City, Plaza attended the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University and attended an improv course at The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. In 2006, she graduated with a master's degree in production of television and film. In her 20s, she experienced an injury to her brain that resulted in temporary expressive aphasia (a defect in the expression and understanding of language).
