Sara Ramirez was born in Mexico. She's an American-Mexican actor. She also sings. Sara Ramirez was raised by an American mother, and was subjected to a variety of racist taunts and led her to feel unwelcome. In the 9th grade, she felt more confident when she was praised by her teachers when she sang at the school's audition. It not only boosted her confidence, but it altered the direction of her professional career. The 22-year-old graduated with a degree from Julliard School in New York. Her professional career began when she was 23 years old, appearing in Paul Simon's The Capeman on Broadway and The You've Got Mail film. The biggest achievement of her career was when she played The Lady Of The Lake on Spamalot's original Broadway production. Not only did she receive the Tony Award, but her performance was also well-received by critics. She gained more recognition for her appearance on Grey's Anatomy on ABC as Dr. Callie Torres. A singer by profession and producer, she's produced one single and an extensive work. She has also been an advocate for LGBT issues.
